Maine DHHS posts the state rules on the Rights of Recipients of Mental Health Services and a Grievance Guide and Grievance Form.

Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund
A national law and policy center dedicated to protecting and advancing the civil rights of people with disabilities through legislation, litigation, advocacy, technical assistance, and education and training of attorneys, advocates, persons with disabilities, and parents of children with disabilities. Their site includes references to their large library of information.

  Civil Rights:  

Maine Human Rights Commission
This is the Maine agency charged with enforcing Maine's anti-discrimination laws.  Their web site features several publications about Maine's equal opportunity laws and explains how to pursue a complaint through the agency.  Includes on-line intake questionnaires.

Maine Civil Liberties Union
Works to advance and protect the civil liberties and civil rights of Maine people. Contact the MCLU if you think your civil liberties have been violated.

Maine Attorney General's Civil Rights Unit
Enforces the Maine Civil Rights Act.  If you are the victim of a bias-based hate crime, you can contact either your local police department or the Civil Rights Unit to ask for help. This page now includes an on-line reporting form.
