Dirigo Health
Another big story for low-income Mainers is the Governor's Dirigo Health Care initiative.
The state now has a
Dirigo Health website. The FAQ page gives
an overview of the program, and the
Coverage
section explains in more detail what the coverage options are and who can apply for discounts.
Although the Dirigo bill became law in mid-September 2003, making Dirigo work is an ongoing process.
Constant changes, and now cutbacks, in federal Medicaid funding affect the financing for Dirigo.
While the Dirigo story is unfolding, we'll post news items here on its
progress. If you want a history of Dirigo Health, click on the News Archive link.
